Chris Fong Chew 招偉明 is a nonprofit founder, educator, and creative, who draws on years of creative practice to found organizations, scale networks, and manage complex programs from the ground up. Chris completed his MFA in Creative Writing, Poetry at Emerson College, and his work explores diasporic literature, literary translation, and the inheritances carried across language and geography. He also holds a Bachelors of Music, Cum Laude, in Piano Performance and Contemporary Writing and Production from Berklee College of Music. In 2023, Chris was selected to be part of the inaugural cohort of the Transformational Leadership Fellowship at Emerson College awarded to six first-year graduate students, and went on to serve on the Presidential Advisory Committee for Community and Culture. As the Deputy Chair for Graduate Students, he represented the graduate community in conversations that shape the strategic vision for the college.  In 2025, his poem "Tea 茶 (trade winds)" was selected as part of the Boston Mayor's Poetry Program by the Mayor's Office of Arts & Culture and featured in City Hall among fifteen other Boston area poets. Chris is also the founder and president of Collections of Transience, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to elevating writers and creatives historically excluded from dominant culture. Founded in 2023, the organization runs a yearlong residency program for writers of color and has since grown to include a fiction course, multiple resident cohorts, and has gone on to publish three chapbooks anthologies. His writing has appeared in Dear Asian Youth, IMAGE Magazine (OCA), TV Wasteland, and chapbook series from both Collections of Transience and Trident Poetry Collective. He is passionate about the intersections of creative disciplines and where different fields of knowledge can become something more when brought into conversation with one another.
